ETS-Lindgren Supports the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association

CEDAR PARK, Texas, August 11, 2015 ETS-Lindgren is proud to support the Antenna Measurement Techniques Association (AMTA), a non-profit, international organization dedicated to the development and dissemination of theory, best practices and applications of antenna, radar signature and other electromagnetic measurement technologies. The company provided a speaker and exhibited at this years AMTA Regional Event on April 28 in Boulder, Colorado. Held at the Millennium Harvest House Hotel in Boulder, Colorado, the technical program addressed Recent Advances in Antenna Measurement Post-Processing. The program was designed to bring the latest technology related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and antenna measurement techniques to the local community. Experts in industry, academia and government organizations shared practical information on various topics in an extended presentation format.Mr. Zhong Chen, Director RF Engineering, ETS-Lindgren, presented, Statistical Post Processing of Time Domain Site VSWR Data for Reduced Uncertainty and Repeatable Measurements. The presentation was complemented by a live demonstration that showed the measurement process of obtaining the site VSWR data using time domain techniques. A vector network analyzer provided by Keysight Technologies was used to obtain the S21 response between two antennas. The data was transformed to time domain via inverse FFT. It was shown that the reflections from the environment can be separated from the direct antenna responses due to time delays. After time gating and FFT, Mr. Chen showed how the reflection coefficient, or the VSWR of the test site (or chamber) as a function of frequency, was derived. The demonstration showed the effectiveness of the measurement process, the data post-processing, and analysis of the results. The regional event also included a tour of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), as well as an exhibition and reception with the speakers following the technical program.
