Keynote Speaker Announced for GlobalEM 2024 Symposium on High-Power Electromagnetics

Reminder: Paper Submittal Deadline is Friday, March 8

CEDAR PARK, Texas, February 27, 2024 – The SUMMA Foundation and ETS-Lindgren, co-hosts of the in-person GlobalEM 2024 Symposium, announced Professor Gun-Sik Park with Seoul National University and Seoul Teracom, Co., as the Keynote Speaker.  This presentation promises to be a highlight of the Symposium Technical Program which takes place July 14 to 19, 2024, in downtown Austin, Texas, at the AT&T Conference Center.  Professor Park will present “Advances in High-Power Microwave Technologies.”  His presentation will provide an overview of recent advancements in high-power microwave (HPM) technology, with a focus on key innovative approaches to increasing power density and efficiency.  Insights into the current state and future prospects of HPM technology will also be discussed.  “One of the reasons we invited Professor Park to present at the GlobalEM 2024 Symposium is his expertise in not only high-power electromagnetics, but HPM technology as well,” said Edl Schamiloglu, Distinguished Professor with The University of New Mexico and President of the SUMMA Foundation.  “His ability to convey complex topics in a relatable manner, in addition to his popularity among our worldwide high-power electromagnetic community, is a benefit for Symposium attendees.  Plus, he is very approachable and friendly; I expect many sidebar conversations with Prof. Park following his presentation and during the Symposium week.  We are very fortunate that he will travel from his home base in Seoul, South Korea, to join us in Austin, Texas,” he added.  You can read more about Professor Park here.

Industry expert William (Bill) A. Radasky, President and Managing Engineer of Metatech Corporation and Technical Program Committee (TPC) Chair, and Nicolas Mora, Ph.D., Research and Extension Directorate Advisor of the National University of Colombia and TPC Vice Chair, are poised to organize yet another outstanding technical program for which GlobalEM is well known.  The technical program will follow past editions of the GlobalEM Symposium in featuring several plenary presentations of general interest to Symposium attendees, in addition to the Keynote Speaker presentation noted above.  Regular submitted papers in the 17 topical areas of High-Power Electromagnetics (HPEM) will return as an integral part of this year’s technical program.  Those interested in contributing to the technical program can view the many technical areas related to HPEM and paper submission details hereNote the submittal deadline for one-page extended abstract papers is Friday, March 8.

Following the technical program that begins with the highly anticipated Keynote Speaker presentation on Monday, July 15, the Symposium technical program concludes on Friday, July 19, with a Technical Tour of ETS-Lindgren’s world headquarters in Cedar Park, Texas, just north of Austin.  “After hearing numerous presentations related to HPEM, Symposium attendees will end the week by seeing real-world examples of products designed and manufactured for protection against HPEM, High-Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP), and Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI),” said ETS-Lindgren’s Subject Matter Expert and Global Marketing Director Joel Kellogg, Vice Chair of the GlobalEM 2024 Organizing Committee.  “The tour complements the technical program by relating the topics presented to solutions that support the topics.  Many people are not aware there is a wide range of solutions available that are manufactured in the United States and certified by an independent test lab (Little Mountain Test Facility operated by Boeing at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah).  We look forward to ending the GlobalEM 2024 Symposium week with an educational tour, an ‘all-you-can-eat’ Texas-style lunch buffet, and a horseshoe toss competition.  I hope you can join us!” enthused Mr. Kellogg.
