ETS-Lindgren Supports State-of-the-Art EMC Testing at TÜV Rheinland North America

CEDAR PARK, Texas, June 14, 2024 – ETS-Lindgren will join TÜV Rheinland North America in celebrating the June 20, 2024, grand opening of its Northeast Technology and Innovation Center located in Boxborough, Massachusetts. The impressive facility, spanning 65,000 square feet, is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure for electrical safety, wireless technology, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, environmental assessments, and medical device testing, among other services. The new laboratory features state-of-the-art amenities, including a customized FACT™ 10 Semi-Anechoic Chamber designed, manufactured, and installed by ETS-Lindgren. The large chamber size of 21.8 m L x 13.9 m W x 9.6 m H (71.42 ft x 45.67 ft x 19.5 ft) enables comprehensive testing for a wide range of products, from automotive vehicles to medical instrumentation, elevators, and more.  With a 6-meter diameter turntable rated for 10 tons (20,000 lb), the EMC test chamber accommodates a variety of test objects to document compliance with industry standards such as ANSI C63.4 (FCC Part 15), ISO 11452-2, CISPR 12, CISPR 25, SAE J1113, SAE J5551, and others.

“We value TÜV Rheinland’s and ETS-Lindgren’s shared commitment to surpassing customer expectations,” said Kevin Baldwin, Regional Sales Director – Americas East, with ETS-Lindgren.  “We are proud to support their focus on EMC testing and appreciate TÜV Rheinland’s objective with the 10-meter EMC test chamber to reduce time to market with efficient testing while ensuring full compliance with numerous industry standards.  From day one of the project, TÜV Rheinland and ETS-Lindgren worked closely together to ensure a successful project completion. It’s great to see the dream of this expansive new facility become a reality,” enthused Mr. Baldwin.

ETS-Lindgren’s decades of experience providing EMC Test and Measurement Solutions aligned perfectly with TÜV Rheinland’s requirements. With ETS-Lindgren’s in-house design and manufacturing capabilities under an ISO 9001-certified quality management program, TÜV Rheinland received the highest quality solution. The customized chamber, designed using ETS-Lindgren’s proprietary chamber simulation software, guaranteed performance objectives.  In addition, during the design phase, ETS-Lindgren’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) provided insight and predictability, supporting coordination and integration with the parent building’s mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and plumbing as well as the architectural host building models. The use of BIM saved time and money with cost-effective pre-planning. Once onsite, ETS-Lindgren’s factory-trained installation crews, adept at complex EMC chamber installations, ensured the chamber was installed in an expeditious manner with tremendous attention to quality, resulting in outstanding performance.

With virtually 97% of the project components manufactured by ETS-Lindgren, TÜV Rheinland could be assured of a single point of contact for all facets of the chamber during construction.  This turnkey capability reduced the risk inherent when using multiple suppliers, especially so on a large project of this scope.  As a result of ETS-Lindgren’s expertise and diverse product offerings, TÜV Rheinland achieved its goal of a complete EMC Test and Measurement Solution that is fully operational and compliant for its customers upon project completion.
