ETS-Lindgren Announces its Fast-5 Program

Expedited Calibration Service Enhances Customer Productivity

CEDAR PARK, Texas, July 29, 2020 To demonstrate its ongoing commitment to customer service, ETS-Lindgren announced its new Fast-5 Program for calibration services.  ETS-Lindgren will calibrate and return the customer's device within five business days of receipt at its headquarters located in Cedar Park, Texas. The Fast-5 Program includes calibration of EMC antennas, probes, current clamps, LISNs, and AMNs, as well as Health and Safety probes in accordance with the major industry standards ANSI C63.5, SAE ARP 958D, CISPR 16-1-6, IEEE 1309, and IEC 61000-4-3.  The Fast-5 Program applies to all standard calibrations on all brands of antennas and probes. There is no additional fee for this service.

Customers enrolled in ETS-Lindgren's Calibration Service Plus! program will also benefit from the Fast-5 Program.  Calibration Service Plus! is a great option for those customers wanting to lock in pricing for multi-year contracts and enjoy the convenience of ETS-Lindgren coordinating calibration due dates.  Calibration Service Plus! customers will engage with ETS-Lindgren's logistics support team to schedule and plan calibrations, all within the same Fast-5 return period.

Why is calibration so important to the success of ETS-Lindgren's customers  The short answer is measurement traceability.  Measurement traceability enables the manufacturing of compatible products worldwide.  Calibration is the vehicle for establishing measurement traceability.  ETS-Lindgren's A2LA-Accredited Calibration Laboratory (Lab Cert #1207.01) is equipped with calibrated instrumentation traceable to National Metrology Institutes (NMI), several anechoic chambers, test cells, and an 80 m x 50 m welded steel ground plane for antenna calibration.

"We've been performing at this five-day return level for the last several months.  It's time to share that information with everyone," said Doug Kramer, Director of Lab Services with ETS-Lindgren.  Mr. Kramer advised that the key to a successful calibration is fully discussing the customer's requirements and expectations before the product is shipped to ETS-Lindgren.  "We are always willing to assist our customers in any way that we can.  By discussing their applications and requirements in more depth, we can provide the specific services they need, saving time and money in the long run."  In addition, with ETS-Lindgren's experience as an industry leader in the design and manufacture of EMC test chambers, its calibration team has a thorough understanding of their customers' test applications. "We have a unique first-hand perspective on how our customers intend to use the devices we calibrate for them.  This outlook makes our discussion with a customer especially meaningful and worthwhile to arrive at the best calibration service for the application," added Mr. Kramer.

Did you know ETS-Lindgren engineers are active participants in the industry standards committees addressing EMC antenna and probe calibration  This includes Mr. Kramer, who serves as the working group chair for the ANSI C63.5 antenna calibration standard, along with Zhong Chen, ETS-Lindgren's Director of RF Engineering, who chairs ANSI C63 Subcommittee 1 on Techniques and Development.  Subcommittee 1 manages the ANSI C63 standards on antenna calibration and EMC test site validation, including ANSI C63.4.  Mr. Chen is also the working group chair for the IEEE 1309 probe calibration standard.  This industry involvement enables ETS-Lindgren's engineering team to be on the forefront of current and future calibration and site validation requirements, as well as to be able to share best practices.  Customers directly benefit from this engagement and expertise.

ETS-Lindgren also offers specialized calibration services, such as the antenna pattern measurement technique described in CISPR 16-1-6: 2017 Annex I.  This is the measurement method required to demonstrate that an antenna complies with the patterns found in CISPR 16-1-4 for test site validation.  While specialized calibrations are not included in the Fast-5 Program, ETS-Lindgren's experts are available to discuss your unique calibration requirements and create a proposal tailored to your specifications.
