Technical Program Excitement Builds for GlobalEM 2024 in Austin, Texas

Exhibition to Showcase High Power Electromagnetics Products and Services

CEDAR PARK, Texas, January 18, 2024 – The SUMMA Foundation and ETS-Lindgren will partner as co-hosts of the in-person GlobalEM 2024 Symposium to be held July 14 to 19, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at the AT&T Conference Center.  The highly respected Drs. Bill Radasky, Technical Program Committee (TPC) Chair, and Nicolas Mora (TPC Vice Chair), return to organize the technical program.  As in past editions of the GlobalEM Symposium, the technical program this year will consist of a keynote presentation and several plenary presentations of general interest to Symposium attendees as well as regular submitted papers in the 17 topical areas of High Power Electromagnetics (HPEM). In addition, a special session titled “HPEM Source Outdoor Testing – Safety, Coexistence, and Contingent Liability” is planned.  “We anticipate another exceptional GlobalEM technical program with contributions from our industry experts.  Once again, we look forward to the unique variety of presentations on HPEM topics provided by speakers from around the world,” said Dr. Radasky.  Those interested in contributing to the technical program can learn more here and view the many topical areas related to HEMP.  Note the submittal deadline for one-page extended abstract papers is Friday, March 8.

The Symposium begins with a Welcome Reception on Sunday evening, July 14.  A second social event, the Gala Banquet, will be held on Wednesday evening, July 17. During the banquet, awards will be presented for new HPEM Fellows; the Baum Medals, Best Student Paper Award, and the Young Scientist Award will also be conferred.

ETS-Lindgren’s Customer Relations Manager Janet O’Neil and Subject Matter Expert and Global Marketing Director Joel Kellogg will helm the organization of the Symposium, supported by the SUMMA Foundation that shepherds the GlobalEM Symposium series.  “We participate in many industry conferences each year and value the unique program presented at the GlobalEM Symposium,” said Ms. O’Neil.  “It’s a small and very targeted group of global experts on HPEM topics.  The high-quality papers on new research in this area are always enlightening, and with the focused, dedicated audience, you can have meaningful, in-depth discussions with the authors and the exhibitors.  I am very excited to learn what’s new in the important area of HPEM at the Symposium,” she added.

The technical program concludes on Friday, July 19, with a technical tour of ETS-Lindgren’s world headquarters in Cedar Park, Texas, just north of Austin.  During the tour, participants will learn about the company’s manufacturing capabilities for products supporting the R&D relevant to GlobalEM 2024 Symposium attendees.  Highlights will include touring ETS-Lindgren’s expanded production line for radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic pulse (EMP) / high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) power, signal (sensor), data, and control line filters.  The RF Filter product line includes ETS-Lindgren’s HEMP / EMP Commercial and Defense Non-Tempest Powerline Filters with Red Edge™ Technology to protect against damage to electronic equipment and loss of data caused by a sudden and intense EMP and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI).

In conjunction with the Symposium, Ms. O'Neil spoke with Dr. Fernando Albarracin, Principal Researcher at Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and speaker at the inaugural IEEE EMC Society, IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society, IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society, and IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Joint Chapter meeting, in the most recent episode of her new podcast Industry Insights with Janet O’Neil.  TII hosted the GlobalEM Symposium in 2022, and Dr. Albarracin stated, “We are glad to know the Symposium will be hosted and chaired by ETS-Lindgren this year.  We will be attending the Symposium in Austin and sharing our latest research there.  We also want to expand our network and are open to sharing knowledge and hosting workshops — we invite visitors to come to the UAE.”

The podcast, in which Ms. O’Neil talks with experts throughout the EMP, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), wireless, acoustic, RF microwave, and healthcare industries about the latest developments and exciting events, launched earlier this month.  “We’re thrilled to have Janet, our own industry expert, sit down with other professionals to explore all aspects of the incredible technological growth we’re seeing around the globe.  Thoughts from these professionals as to where we are now and where we’re headed also guides ETS-Lindgren, as an industry leader, in honing our own products and services.”
