SUMMA Foundation and ETS-Lindgren Partner to Host GlobalEM 2024 in Austin, Texas

Symposium Attracts World’s Experts in High-Power Electromagnetics

CEDAR PARK, Texas, December 7, 2023 – The SUMMA Foundation and ETS-Lindgren will partner as co-hosts of the in-person GlobalEM 2024 Symposium to be held on July 14 to 19, 2024, in Austin, Texas, at the AT&T Conference Center.  The Conference Center is adjacent to the beautiful University of Texas at Austin campus, near many restaurants and shops downtown, as well as close to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.  ETS-Lindgren’s dynamic team of Customer Relations Manager Janet O’Neil and Subject Matter Expert and Global Marketing Director Joel Kellogg will helm the organization of the Symposium.  In addition, industry expert William (Bill) A. Radasky, President and Managing Engineer of Metatech Corporation, will chair the technical program.  Dr. Radasky will be ably assisted by Technical Program Vice Chair Nicolas Mora, Ph.D., with the National University of Colombia.  Chaouki Kasmi, Chief Researcher/Head of Directed Energy Research Center with Technology Innovation Institute (TII), will provide Symposium support.  Dr. Kasmi is the immediate past host of the successful GlobalEM 2022 Symposium held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, that attracted nearly 200 attendees.

SUMMA Foundation President Edl Schamiloglu with University of New Mexico reflected on the history of GlobalEM: “This Symposium is unique in that it brings together international experts in high-power electromagnetics.  Since1978, the SUMMA Foundation has sponsored the Symposium, which has rotated annually among North America, Europe, and Asia.  On behalf of the SUMMA Foundation that shepherds this Symposium series, we look forward to gathering in Austin in 2024!"

“ETS-Lindgren is honored to continue the legacy of this important global assembly as the primary organizer of GlobalEM 2024 Symposium in Austin, Texas,” said Mr. Kellogg.  “Having just presented at the National Disaster Resilience Council in San Antonio, Texas, I witnessed a keen interest to better understand and find solutions to mitigate the threats posed by high power electromagnetics and intentional electromagnetic interference.  We are thrilled to be co-hosting the GlobalEM 2024 Symposium, which will bring experts from around the world to Austin in order to disseminate these threats and constructively discuss research being conducted in the field.  We are also thankful to our Symposium partners including the SUMMA Foundation, Metatech Corporation, and TII, who will help ensure this is an exciting and successful Symposium.”

The Symposium begins with a Welcome Reception on Sunday evening, July 14.  A second social event, the Gala Banquet, will be held on Wednesday evening, July 17.  The technical program will be held from Monday, July 15, to Friday, July 19.  Invited speaker presentations and papers are scheduled from Monday to Thursday; a technical tour of ETS-Lindgren is planned for Friday.

During the technical tour of ETS-Lindgren’s world headquarters in Cedar Park, Texas, participants will learn about the company’s manufacturing capabilities for products supporting the R&D relevant to GlobalEM 2024 Symposium attendees.  Highlights will include touring ETS-Lindgren’s expanded production line for radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic pulse (EMP)/ high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) power, signal (sensor), data, and control line filters.  The RF Filter product line includes EMP Commercial and Defense Tempest Powerline Filters featuring the popular Model LRX with EMP protection.  The RF Filter product line also includes ETS-Lindgren’s HEMP/EMP Commercial and Defense Non-Tempest Powerline Filters with Red Edge™ Technology to protect against damage to electronic equipment and loss of data caused by a sudden and intense EMP and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI).  Tour attendees will appreciate knowing ETS-Lindgren is the only manufacturer to have its complete Red Edge Filter product line acceptance-tested to the requirements of MIL-STD-188-125 by the independent Little Mountain Test Facility operated by Boeing at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah.  View ETS-Lindgren’s educational brochure Top 10 Considerations for RF and Facility Power Line Filters for more information on this product line.  Contact ETS-Lindgren via phone +1 512-531-6400 or email info@ets-lindgren.com for assistance with your TEMPEST, SCIF, IEMI, and EMP protection requirements.
