United Kingdom Requires Building Information Modeling (BIM)

CEDAR PARK, Texas, November 4, 2015 - ETS-Lindgren announced it is now in full compliance with the upcoming United Kingdom (UK) Building Information Modeling (BIM) requirements that take effect in 2016. The requirement applies to all Government projects in the UK as part of the Government Construction Strategy published by the Cabinet office on 31 May 2011. The report announced the Governments intention to require collaborative 3D BIM on its projects by 2016 (with all project and asset information, documentation and data being electronic). Given that ETS-Lindgren works on many UK Government projects and has an in house BIM certified team, the company has been actively preparing for this new requirement for the past 20 months. We are very excited about this initiative! We understand the importance and value it brings to all stakeholders involved in a construction project, said Juan Alvarez, Director of Project Engineering and BIM Technologies with ETS-Lindgren. With our years of experience, we can confidently say BIM ensures the success of any project - large or small. We applaud the UK Government for implementing this requirement as we know using BIM greatly increases the likelihood of on time project completions and avoids cost overruns. In short, BIM redefines the way ETS-Lindgren customers experience construction documents, making it easier to make better, more informed decisions. Many customers are not familiar with the architectural and engineering construction (AEC) industry and are not comfortable reading traditional blue prints, nor making decisions based on 2D drawings. Fortunately, with BIM they dont need to be AEC experts.BIM provides customers the assurance that what ETS-Lindgren designs and manufactures is going to fit and work within their facility. As a result, BIM mitigates the risk of having to deal with potential construction issues since the majority of these issues are discovered upfront and can be addressed in a virtual environment - rather than on site where it becomes more costly and can impact the project schedule. ETS-Lindgrens in house team of BIM certified experts provide this value added service to give customers the confidence their project will be completed on time and on budget. As a result of these tremendous advantages, ETS-Lindgren is adding BIM to every market it serves, in addition to the UK Government projects, whether it be defense, medical, wireless, consumer electronics, or automotive. The company is the only RF shielded enclosure and anechoic chamber manufacturer currently using BIM. All proprietary shielding models and families are created by an in-house ETS-Lindgren Autodesk Certified Professional design team, supervised by a Director of Project Engineering and BIM Technologies.
