New Product Launch and Automotive Test Solutions Featured at EMV – Europe’s Leading Conference on EMC

CEDAR PARK, Texas – July 8, 2022 – ETS-Lindgren will launch a new product, EMSense™ 40, and share updates on Automotive Solutions during EMV 2022, Europe’s leading conference for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), held in Cologne, Germany, from July 12 to 14.  EMSense 40, ETS-Lindgren's latest addition to the Series of Broadband E-Field Probes, meets or exceeds the requirements for automotive, MIL-STD, and commercial EMC RF immunity standards.  The laser-powered EMSense 40 Electric Field Probe embodies the latest innovations in isotropic sensor design, low noise, and miniaturized electronics.  Designed for a single probe frequency range of 10 MHz  40 GHz, the EMSense 40 can read data continuously over the entire dynamic range.  In addition, data values for each axis (X, Y, and Z) can be read individually or summed.

To learn more about the EMSense 40, visit ETS-Lindgren in Hall 10.2, Booth #311, and attend the presentation “Optimizing Laser-Powered Electric Field Probe Measurements” by Vincent Keyser, ETS-Lindgren’s Sales Director EMEA, in the Forum 618 Area of Hall 10.2 on Wednesday, July 13, from 10:40 to 11:00.  This educational presentation will share how an understanding of the isotropic sensor behavior of modern laser-powered e-field probes with low noise and miniaturized electronics is essential to making accurate and repeatable measurements.  Aspects such as amplitude linearity, frequency response, temperature drift, speed, and non-isotropic behavior of the probe will be reviewed as important parameters that when understood, optimize usage of the latest e-field probe technology.

Returning to EMV as an expert speaker on the rapidly developing Automotive EMC test and measurement technology, ETS-Lindgren’s Garth D’Abreu, Director, Automotive Solutions, will present in the Compact Forum located in the Forum 618 Area of Hall 10.2 on Tuesday, July 12, from 14:40 to 15:40.  The topic of the Compact Forum is “EMC Chambers for E-Vehicles: Implementation Options for E-Motor and E-Axle Test Systems” featuring speakers Mr. D’Abreu and Mario Propst, Senior Application Manager (E-Drive Testing) with AVL.  “I always enjoy presenting at EMV since it’s a hub for the automotive community in Europe.  The attendees are knowledgeable and contribute to the discussion in our Compact Forum.  We appreciate the one-hour interactive format where we present the latest automotive technology – this year as related to E-Vehicles – and exchange ideas with the audience,” stated Mr. D’Abreu.

“While automotive EMC component testing is well established with emission and immunity tests based on several existing CISPR and ISO standards, we’re seeing an ongoing development of electric drive systems where vehicle manufacturers are optimizing designs and moving toward e-axle drive variants where the drive motor, transmission, and control electronics are more compact,” added Mr. D’Abreu.  “In light of the current standards, this presentation looks at the baseline recommendations for vehicle and component layout and discusses some of the variations in layout needed to address differences in the DUT designs.  These variants drive differences in test chamber and system design, with consequential impact on overall size and cost.  Mr. Propst and I will review practical and effective options for implementing e-motor and e-axle test systems as related to both existing and new EMC chambers.”

Visit ETS-Lindgren Booth #311 to review our new series of E-Motor Test  Solutions addressing the emerging requirements of e-motor EMC performance validation and compliance testing.  These Automotive Solutions extend EMC support of full vehicles and electric/electronic sub-assembly (ESA) testing to meet the requirements of industry standards CISPR 12, Ed. 6.1; CISPR 25, Ed. 4; ISO 11451-2; and ISO 11452-2.

Given the increasingly complex testing of today’s modern automotive technology, ETS-Lindgren has created automated test software that greatly enhances and simplifies test productivity: TILE!™ and VisionTRX™.  TILE! – Totally Integrated Laboratory Environment – system software is an integrated test environment for creating and performing EMC tests.  TILE!’s library of profiles is designed for testing to international test regulations for radiated emissions and immunity (RE, RI) as well as conducted emissions and immunity (CE, CI).  Since TILE! is instrument-agnostic, it can be used with most test instrumentation our customers may already have onsite.  VisionTRX Visual Monitoring System software redefines automated movement-based analysis of equipment under test (EUT) during EMC testing.  In order to verify EUT behavior, the software allows automated visual monitoring of relevant parameters during exposure to the required electromagnetic field strengths.  EUT may include speedometer needles, dash lights, LEDs, radios, heads-up displays, etc. – the possibilities are limitless.  VisionTRX and TILE! provide the flexibility to adapt to varied automotive test requirements, including efficient interface with related instrumentation and systems software that might be used to control a dynamometer, for example.  ETS-Lindgren’s software ensures the entire automotive test system works together seamlessly.  The result?  Our customers are confidently and productively testing from their first test program!
