ETS-Lindgren Supports the International Year of Sound Celebration!

International Commission for Acoustics Promotes the Importance of Sound in Society with Special Events in 2020

CEDAR PARK, Texas February 5, 2020   Under the auspices of the International Commission for Acoustics (ICA), 2020 has been declared "The International Year of Sound" (IYS 2020) - a global initiative to highlight the importance of sound and related sciences and technologies for all in society.  Multiple special events are planned globally throughout 2020 to raise public awareness and celebrate the power of sound. As noted on the Sound 2020 website, "Sound is an essential part of communication between humans - in the form of speech, as a sound of warning, and also in music and creative sounds. However, there is a concern about too much sound, which then becomes noise and needs to be controlled to ensure acceptable and safe living and working environments."

As an industry leader in products and services that measure, manage, and control sound, ETS-Lindgren enthusiastically supports IYS 2020. At our headquarters near Austin, Texas, our veteran team of acoustical engineers design and manufacture the products and systems that enclose, absorb, and isolate sound.  Our experienced technicians also perform certified acoustic testing on behalf of customers from automotive and high-technology manufacturers to audiologists.  Collectively, we appreciate the importance of sound for all society.

"Too often we take sound for granted, but I can assure you ETS-Lindgren and our customers take it very seriously," said Dr. Douglas Winker, Product Line Manager, Acoustics, with ETS-Lindgren.  "From determining the level of fan noise in a laptop computer to how effective a window is in reducing sound from outside sources, we are committed to providing the optimal acoustical environments to help our customers produce the best products.  Beyond commercial products, we also work with the healthcare industry in providing high quality audiometric sound booths to diagnose a patient's hearing capability. With this broad spectrum of acoustical expertise, we are happy to support IYS 2020 in stressing the importance of sound in society."

When unwanted noise is a challenge, ETS-Lindgren provides solutions that enhance sound in diverse environments and optimize the quality of life one of the goals of IYS 2020.  You'll find information on our acoustical and audiometric product solutions here.  Our test services offered in our accredited Acoustic Research Lab (ARL) include a reverberation chamber suite for determining sound transmission loss, sound absorption, and noise isolation, as well as a hemi-anechoic chamber for noise emissions and sound power determinations.

To learn more about how we can help you control and evaluate noise, visit our booth at the annual conference of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA)/HearTech Expo 2020 in New Orleans over April 1-4.  You'll also find us at the annual conference of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, Noise-Con 2020, over June 29-July 1 in New Orleans.  To learn more about the multiple global special events planned for IYS 2020, click here.
