ETS-Lindgren Welcomes the Automotive Research Association of India

Leading Association Selects ETS-Lindgren for its New Full Vehicle

Automotive EMC Test Chambers

CEDAR PARK, Texas February 12, 2019   ETS-Lindgren welcomed an important visitor from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to its headquarters located in Cedar Park, Texas (just north of Austin).  The ARAI awarded a significant contract to ETS-Lindgren for the design and installation of a state-of-the-art automotive 10 meter EMC test chamber as well as smaller support chambers.  The chamber will be installed at ARAI's new automotive EMI/EMC facility located near Pune, one of the largest automotive hubs in India.  The 10-meter semi-anechoic EMC chamber is designed for testing full vehicles, from two wheelers to commercial vehicles, with an integrated dynamometer.  In placing the award, ARAI acknowledged ETS-Lindgren as an industry leader in automotive EMC test systems.

Mr. M. Desai, General Manager, Automotive Electronics Department with ARAI, was eager to visit ETS-Lindgren and see the over 100,000 square foot facility that houses the company's expert engineering team and manufactures a wide variety of EMC test components, including antennas, probes, RF filters, turntables, and more.  In addition, the facility houses a world class A2LA accredited calibration lab, a NVLAP accredited Acoustic Research Lab (NVLAP Lab Code 100286-0) and a CTIA Approved Test Lab, as well as R&D chambers for innovative wireless Over-the-Air (OTA) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test methodologies.  ETS-Lindgren's manufacturing facility and sales offices in Bangalore, India have full access to the resources available at the company's headquarters in Cedar Park.

In 2015, the Government of India required EMC compliance for all vehicle categories as per AIS 004 (part 3) due to the increasing electronic content in vehicles to satisfy customer demand for better performance, enhanced security, sophisticated entertainment and GPS capabilities, to name a few.  With today's modern vehicles, critical vehicle functions are now controlled by electronics.  In order to ensure the safe operation of vehicle electronics in an electromagnetic environment, ETS-Lindgren's new test chambers will enable EMC compliance testing of electric and hybrid vehicles, including major vehicular components such as motors, controllers, and chargers.  The ARAI will support India's growing automotive industry by providing an end-to-end solution for development of the vehicle platform, from EMC compliance testing to consultancy to resolve potential EMC issues. The new facility will also offer EMC testing to non-automotive sectors, such as industrial electronics, medical, defense, and wireless communication.
