High-Performance RF Power Line Filters Now Available to Meet MIL-STD-188-125-1A

Ratings of 10 Amp to 100 Amp Certified by Independent Test Lab

CEDAR PARK, Texas – July 29, 2022 – ETS-Lindgren announced immediate availability of Model LRX-EMP RF Power Line Filters in the ranges of 10, 30, 60, and 100 Amp that comply with MIL-STD-188-125-1A.  The filter series meets or exceeds the residual requirements and other norms of MIL-STD-188-125-1A, released by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in July 2021, superseding MIL-STD-188-125-1, released in 1998.  The MIL-STD-188-125-1A standard specifies test methods as well as updates passing criteria for Points-of-Entry (POE), such as filters, to secure environments including SCIF and TEMPEST shielded enclosures.  Model LRX-EMP RF power line filters also meet the requirements of the superseded standard MIL-STD-188-125-1.  Thus, they are backward compatible with the -1 requirements.

To document compliance with MIL-STD-188-125-1A and -1, Model LRX-EMP RF Power Line Filters were independently tested at Little Mountain Test Facility operated by Boeing at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah (test report available on request).  Model LRX-EMP RF Power Line Filters also comply with industry standards such as UL 1283, MIL-STD-220, MIL-F-15733, and IEC 60939 to ensure high-quality performance and safe operation.

“As a long-time technical contributor to the commercial and defense standards committees addressing RF power line filter applications and performance, we anticipated the POE changes specified by DTRA,” said Sergio Longoria, Product Line Technical Manager, RF Filters.  “The new edition of MIL-STD-188-125-1A raises the quality standard for RF power line filters installed on secure environments.  Points of entry for power are often overlooked but are integral to maintaining the overall security of any environment on which RF power line filters are installed.  To provide a wider range of MIL-STD-188-125-1A compliant filters, Model LRX-EMP 250, 400, 600, and 800 Amp-rated filters are under development and will be submitted to Little Mountain Test Facility for independent testing in the near future.”

ETS-Lindgren’s RF Filter product line includes EMP Commercial and Defense Tempest Power Line Filters featuring the popular Model LRX with EMP protection.  LRX filters are designed to meet point-of-entry requirements of MIL-STD-188-125-1, -1A, and -2 for short and intermediate pulses while providing high-insertion loss performance for SCIF, TEMPEST, and other military and commercial applications.  The RF Filter product line also includes ETS-Lindgren’s HEMP/EMP Commercial and Defense Non-Tempest Power Line Filters with Red Edge™ Technology to protect against damage to electronic equipment and loss of data caused by a sudden and intense EMP and intentional electromagnetic interference (IEMI).  These filters provide excellent multi-stage, over-voltage, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and radio frequency interference (RFI) protection.

In addition to Power, Signal (Sensor), Data, and Control-Line Filters, ETS-Lindgren provides custom, made-to-order RF and EMP Filters to meet specific requirements, such as configuration, performance, and power level.
