ETS-Lindgren Announces Technical Contributions to EMC 2014

CEDAR PARK, Texas, June 10, 2014 - ETS-Lindgren announced its technical contributions to the 2014 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) in Raleigh, NC. Symposium dates are August 4-8 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The contributions include presentations in five tutorials, chairing a special session, an EMC test lab software demonstration, a technical tour of IBMs unique boat-shaped chamber, and a special event celebrating Maxwells equations. The tutorials start the morning of Monday, August 4 with ETS-Lindgrens Vince Rodriguez chairing and presenting in the tutorial, Understanding the Importance of Bore Sight Antenna Measurements. Dr. Rodriguez will discuss using numerical simulations to demonstrate the importance of bore sighting in EMC measurements. That afternoon, Garth DAbreu of ETS-Lindgren will present in the tutorial Application of Reverberation Chambers. Mr. DAbreu will discuss wireless device testing in reverberation chambers. Mr. DAbreu will also co-chair and speak in the tutorial, Recent Developments in EMC for Emerging Wireless Technologies on Monday. His presentation will review testing of whole vehicles with complex wireless technologies. On Friday morning, August 8, Zhong Chen of ETS-Lindgren will chair and present in the tutorial, Time Domain Site VSWR Method above 1 GHz and Correlations to CISPR Site VSWR. Mr. Chen will present the evolution of time domain site VSWR and using statistical metrics to evaluate test sites above 1 GHz. This work supports the latest draft version of the new ANSI Standard C63.25 on time domain applications for test site validation. On Friday afternoon, Mr. Chen will present in the tutorial, Understanding Recent EMC Standards from the IEEE on his work as chair of the IEEE Standard 1309 working group. This standard addresses the calibration of electromagnetic sensors and field probes over the range of 9 kHz to 40 GHz.For complete tutorial details, please see the advance program on the symposium website for the dates of August 4 and 8.In addition to the ETS-Lindgren engineers presenting in the five tutorials noted above, Doug Kramer of ETS-Lindgren will chair a special session on Thursday afternoon titled, Business Management Concerns in EMC. This session is sponsored by EMC Society Technical Committee (TC) 1 on EMC Management. Mr. Kramer is also the chair of TC 1.Other technical content presented by ETS-Lindgren at the symposium includes a presentation by Mr. Chen as part of the ANSI C63 workshop on the draft time domain standard on August 2 at the Marriott Raleigh City Center Hotel. More information is available in the ANSI C63 workshop overview. As part of the symposium demonstrations and experiments held in the exhibit hall, Joe Tannehill will present a demonstration titled, Using Simulated EMC Instruments to Develop, Edit, and Validate EMC Test Routines. Mr. Tannehill will also lead the annual TILE! Users Group (TUG) meeting on Wednesday morning, August 6. The TUG meeting is open to existing users and others interested in learning more about the latest version of TILE! the popular EMC lab management software. To register to attend the TUG meeting, click here.On special events at the symposium, ETS-Lindgrens Janet ONeil will co-chair a session recognizing the 150th anniversary of Maxwells equations on Wednesday afternoon, August 6. The company will also sponsor a tour of the IBM unique boat-shaped chamber in Research Triangle Park on Thursday evening, August 7. Witness a live time-domain measurement performed by Zhong Chen, member of the ANSI C63 working group that is developing the new C63.25 standard on time domain applications for test site validation. Free transportation and buffet provided. Space is limited; register to attend at www.ets-tour.com/Representatives of ETS-Lindgrens ETS-U will be on-hand to discuss upcoming educational courses on Wireless Over-The-Air (OTA) (August 12-14) and MIL-STD-461F (November 11-13) test methods. These unique courses feature classroom study supplemented with hands-on lab sessions. ETS-Lindgrens facilities include an A2LA accredited calibration lab, CTIA, CATL, and NVLAP accredited acoustic lab. Please visit ETS-Lindgren in Booth 703 at the symposium exhibition to learn more about these exciting courses and see a TILE! demonstration.
