Popular EMC Antennas Now Feature Pre-Amplifiers

CEDAR PARK, Texas, July 2, 2013 ETS-Lindgren announced its popular Double-Ridged Waveguide Horn and BiConiLog antennas are now available together with matched pre-amplifiers. Known as Models 3116C-PA and 3117-PA, the antenna and pre-amplifier combination are calibrated as a single unit. This allows for any possible mismatches between the antenna and the pre-amplifier to be taken into account in the antenna factor (AF) which is provided with each unit. Dr. Vince Rodriguez, Antenna Product Manager for ETS-Lindgren, commented, Measuring the antenna and the pre-amplifier together as a single unit or system is significant. This provides an antenna factor (AF) that includes all the mismatch losses between the antenna and amp. Key characteristics of each antenna include single lobe radiation, extremely low AF, and flexible mounting. Model 3116C-PA is ideal as a receive antenna for emissions testing from 18 GHz to 40 GHz. Model 3117-PA is ideal as a receive antenna for emissions testing from 1 GHz to 18 GHz.The hybrid BiConiLog antenna, Model 3142E-PA, combines innovative design, compact size, and excellent performance with a pre-amplifier module. Designed for emissions testing, the 3142E-PA enables users to measure a frequency range of 30 MHz to 6 GHz in one sweep, eliminating the need for multiple antennas and time-consuming equipment set up. The antenna and pre-amplifier module are calibrated together, including the cable section that connects the module to the antenna port. Flexible mounting is also offered with the Model 3142E-PA; as with the horn antennas noted above, the mounting bracket accepts either a 20 thread screw or rear stinger mount. For more information, view the datasheets for the double-ridged waveguide horn antennas, Models 3116C-PA and 3117-PA, as well as the hybrid BiConiLog antenna, Model 3142E-PA.
