Global Defense Contractor Selects ETS‑Lindgren to Deliver State-of-the-Art EMC and MIL-STD Test Facility
Eura, Finland, February 12, 2026 – ETS‑Lindgren announced a partnership with a major global defense contractor to design, manufacture, and install a new electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and MIL-STD test laboratory. The modern facility will support the contractor’s internal test needs as well as serve regional military and industrial customers through three advanced semi-anechoic EMC test chambers.
The largest chamber — a customized FACT™ 10 Semi-Anechoic Chamber — measures 21.8 m x 16.7 m x 10.5 m (71.5 ft x 54.8 ft x 34.5 ft) and features a floor rated for 70 tons (154,000 lb). Its substantial size and load-bearing capacity enable comprehensive testing across a wide range of products, from commercial and armored military vehicles to large industrial products and more. Equipped with an 8 m (26 ft) diameter turntable rated for 50 tons (110,000 lb), the chamber supports compliance testing to major industry standards including ANSI C63.4 (FCC Part 15), ISO 11452-2, CISPR 12, CISPR 16-1-4, CISPR 25, SAE J1113, SAE J551, MIL-STD-461, DO-160, and others.
A second chamber, the FACT™ 3 Semi-Anechoic Chamber, measures 11.4 m x 7 m x 6 m (37.4 ft x 23 ft x 20 ft) and includes a floor rated for 5 tons (10,000 lb) along with a 3 m (10 ft) diameter turntable rated for 5 tons (10,000 lb). Completing the suite is a Semi-Anechoic Chamber designed for MIL-STD tabletop testing, measuring 6 m x 5.6 m x 4 m (20 ft x 18.3 ft x 13 ft).
These new chambers will meet the growing demand for testing military vehicles and enhance the contractor’s ability to perform military bench tests as well as streamline and expand capabilities for commercial CE Marking tests. The project reflects the contractor’s commitment to investing in the rapidly evolving hybrid automotive market and satisfying future type-approval testing opportunities throughout Europe.
“We are proud to work with a global defense contractor on this important project and appreciate the value their engineering team placed on our technical expertise,” said Ammar Sarwar, Regional Sales Manager, EMEA, with ETS‑Lindgren. “From the earliest discussions, we used our proprietary modeling and simulation tools to help our customer visualize the significant scope of the project. The combination of our certified in-house Building Information Modeling (BIM) and our customized anechoic chamber modeling capabilities allowed us to evaluate multiple chamber and quiet-zone configurations and determine the optimal dimensions to meet performance and budget objectives. We were also able to guarantee performance based on our proven BIM capabilities.”
To demonstrate the company’s experience with large chambers, ETS‑Lindgren arranged a visit with the contractor’s engineers to a customer site featuring a similar high‑performance chamber used for EMC testing of large military vehicles. Detailed simulations confirmed ETS‑Lindgren’s ability to achieve larger quiet zones than competing chamber designs. In addition to chamber design and installation, ETS‑Lindgren shared developed a large and complex stripline antenna with adjustable length from 6 m to 12 m (20 ft to 39 ft), enabling the testing of a broad range of vehicles. ETS‑Lindgren also supplied a novel 3170 Intell-I-Tune™ antenna. Final chamber performance evaluations, conducted in accordance with CISPR and ANSI C63 standards from 18 GHz to 40 GHz, further distinguished ETS‑Lindgren’s proposal as a comprehensive, turnkey solution.
“We value the shared commitment between the global defense contractor and ETS‑Lindgren to exceed customer expectations,” added Mr. Sarwar. “We are thrilled to support our customer’s focus on EMC and MIL-STD testing and applaud their priority to reduce time to market through efficient, compliant testing.”
ETS‑Lindgren’s decades of experience in EMC test and measurement solutions aligned seamlessly with customer requirements. With ETS‑Lindgren’s in-house design and manufacturing under an ISO 9001-certified quality management system, the customer received a high-quality, fully integrated solution. Because approximately 97% of the project components are manufactured by ETS‑Lindgren, customers benefit from a single point of contact throughout construction — significantly reducing the risks typically associated with coordinating multiple suppliers on a project of this scale.
