ETS‑Lindgren Announces ETS-U Course: Master the Fundamentals of EMC Testing and Compliance
Course to Be Held at TÜV Rheinland North America’s Northeast Technology & Innovation Center
CEDAR PARK, Texas – May 14, 2026 – In the rapidly evolving commercial electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) industry with renewed interest in the functionally of electronic devices – from handheld devices to automobiles – optimal EMC design and performance testing is of increasing importance. To address these topics from a real-world perspective, ETS‑Lindgren announces the dates of Tuesday to Thursday, June 9 to 11, 2026, for its ETS-U Course “Master the Fundamentals of EMC Testing and Compliance.” The Course will be held at the Northeast Technology & Innovation Center of TÜV Rheinland of North America Inc. — ETS‑Lindgren’s Training Facility Partner — in Boxborough, Massachusetts. The primary speaker, noted EMC industry consultant Daniel D. Hoolihan, will present a technical program designed for engineers and technical leaders seeking practical insight into EMC emissions, immunity testing, regulatory standards, and product clarification requirements. Highlights of the Course include a tour of TÜV’s EMC Test Lab and five live demonstrations complementing the lecture material.
The morning segment of the Course’s first day will delve into commercial EMC fundamentals, with an emphasis on radiated emissions and immunity, while the afternoon segment includes a tour of the TÜV EMC Laboratory and two demonstrations in the lab’s 10-meter chamber. On the second day, students will learn about commercial conducted emission testing, immunity testing, and conducted and radiated immunity; the afternoon portion will showcase two live EMC demonstrations focusing on conducted immunity and radiated immunity testing. Concluding the Course, the third day will feature MIL-STD 461G/H testing, EMC design, and compliance and certification. Discussions will cover conducted and radiated emission and susceptibility, design considerations, test performance and environments, and the certification process, in addition to advanced wireless and automotive EMC testing and measurement uncertainty. Finally, Mr. Hoolihan will touch on professional development and conduct a demonstration of MIL-STD 461H test methods to wrap up the three-day Course.
Mr. Hoolihan notes: “By the end of this program, students will be able to apply EMC fundamentals to commercial compliance programs. They will interpret emission and susceptibility requirements with confidence and connect test standards to real-world implementation and design decisions. Students will also become familiar with the new requirements outlined in the recently updated MIL-STD-461H. As a result of this focused education, each student will be equipped with the tools necessary to reduce risk through practical insights into laboratory testing and compliance strategies.”
Students will benefit from ETS‑Lindgren’s expertise as the global leader in EMC, Antenna Measurement, and RF Test Solutions, providing deep standards knowledge and system-level insight. In addition, TÜV’s expertise provides students with hands-on exposure to a fully accredited EMC test facility with real-world test setups and workflows.
The Course is designed for EMC, RF, and systems engineers; test, validation, and qualification engineers and technicians; product development engineers; compliance and certification leads; as well as program and project managers supporting commercial electronics and automotive platforms.
Note: Attendance is strictly limited at all ETS-U Courses to ensure optimal interaction with the instructor. Registration is confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis until the Course is full. View the registration page for complete information on the Course agenda and speaker biography.
