National Automobile Quality Supervision and Inspection Center Partners with ETS-Lindgren for State-of-the-Art Project

CEDAR PARK, Texas - April 13, 2023 - National Automobile Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (NAST), based in China, has taken a significant step forward in the automotive industry with the recent installation of a state-of-the-art EMC test facility. Partnering with ETS-Lindgren, a global leading manufacturer of EMC and Over-the-Air Test Systems, NAST completed a project aimed at designing and installing an EMC anechoic chamber with a dual dynamometer for real-world automotive testing of an extensive range of vehicle components, including electric-motor (E-Motor) vehicles.

The E-Motor Chamber is a cutting-edge test facility designed for optimal testing of high-voltage components, including but not limited to batteries, air conditioners, and high-pressure power steering and compressors. Its construction is fortified with ETS-Lindgren Model Series 101 RF Shielded Panels and meets Seismic Zone 7 level intensity requirements. With nominal interior chamber dimensions of 11.2 m L x 8. 2 m W x 6.1 m H (37 ft x 27 ft x 20 ft) and a 50 cm (20 in) raised floor, this chamber is built to impress. ETS-Lindgren provided turnkey project management, overseeing the project, design, site infrastructure construction, and installation of the chamber, dynamometer system, and hydrogen fuel cell facility.

Moreover, the collaboration between ETS-Lindgren and AVL, the world's largest independent company dedicated to the development, simulation, and testing of powertrain systems for passenger cars and trucks — including hybrid, internal combustion engines, drivetrains, electric drives, batteries, and software — equipped this progressive Automotive EMC Test Chamber with advanced features and capabilities.

The EMC chamber has closed-cell polystyrene-based absorber material, beneficial in reducing the risk of hydrogen gas entering the interior of the absorbing material while still performing tests safely and reliably. The RF Shielding effectiveness of the chamber is > 100 dB. The facility also meets the requirements of CISPR 25, ISO 11452-2, ISO 11452-4, ISO 7637, and other automotive EMC industry standards.
