IEEE EMC Society Appoints ETS-Lindgren Engineer as Distinguished Lecturer

CEDAR PARK, Texas, July 23, 2013 ETS-Lindgren announced that the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Society of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has appointed Dr. Vincente Rodriguez as a Distinguished Lecturer for the years 2013-2014. The EMC Society's Distinguished Lecturer Program (DLP) provides speakers on various aspects of electromagnetic compatibility for EMC Society chapter meetings and similar functions. Distinguished Lecturers are selected based upon professional competence and recognition of EMC expertise, communication and presentation skills, as well as the recommendation of EMC Society members, among other criteria. The prestigious appointment of the Distinguished Lecturer is conferred by the EMC Society Board of Directors.Dr. Rodriguez offers the following presentation topics as part of the Distinguished Lecturer Program:Introduction to Antenna Parameters and Antennas for EMC This presentation starts with a description of different antenna parameters using movies and graphics to visualize the different features of a radiating antenna. The presentation concludes with an overview of the different types of antennas used to perform EMC measurements.Automotive EMC: Components and Full Vehicle Testing This presentation is a short survey of the main emissions and immunity for automotive components and full vehicles. The test site requirements for CISPR 12, CISPR 25, ISO 11451 and ISO 11452 are discussed and presented.Anechoic Chambers and Absorber This presentation discusses the basics of anechoic chamber design and simulation. Samples of designs for CISPR 16, CISPR 25, MIL-STD 461 and RTCA DO 160 chambers are provided. An introduction on absorber technology is also presented.I have presented as Distinguished Lecturer a few times this year and have appreciated getting to know EMC engineers all around the world, said Dr. Rodriguez. Its been a pleasure for me to educate engineers and share some of the exciting R&D work I do in antennas and anechoic chambers. I look forward to giving more presentations during my term.Dr. Rodriguez joined ETS-Lindgren in 2000 as is currently the companys Antenna Product Manager. He attended The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where he obtained his BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees, all in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Rodriguez oversees the technical and marketing aspects of the antenna products at ETS-Lindgren. Broadband double and quad-ridged guide horns; high field generator horns; stacked LPDAs for automotive and military testing; and printed antennas for wireless testing are just a few of the antennas he has developed. While mainly dedicated to antenna design, Dr. Rodriguez continues being involved in the design of anechoic chambers, including a novel conical tapered L-shaped chamber. Dr. Rodriguez is the author of more than 50 publications including journal and conference papers as well as book chapters. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and several of its technical societies. Dr. Rodriguez is a full member of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society and of the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society.
