Key Features
- No hardware installation or site renovation is required
- Sensor technology alarms only on objects of significant ferrous metal before they are brought into the MRI room
- Variable sensitivity allows for customized installations and incorporation into existing screening protocols
- Innovative, patented designs offer constant visual display at eye level
- Provides continuous monitoring of the local ferromagnetic environment through the intuitive Beacon Display System
- Flexible deployment as either an entryway control near the MRI door, as part of the patient pre-screening process, or part of other more challenging facility layouts.
Description
The Ferroguard® Beacon has three levels of visual alarming. A red light means something ferrous has been detected and the audible alarm will sound when that object crosses the threshold. An amber light means a ferrous material has been detected, but it is not enough to trigger the audible alarm when the object passes through the threshold. A green light means the system has not detected anything ferrous and the audible alarm will not sound when the threshold is crossed.
The free-standing system has been designed to fit in, complement and enhance the safety of your MRI environment while allowing for precise siting without the need for major installation considerations. The system is easy to operate and performance can be optimized by the user. It has a fully integrated battery backup for 24-hour operation and an alarm to signal when the battery is low. The free-standing units are less confrontational and far less restrictive than conventional archway technologies. They can be deployed in a matter of minutes and can provide an immediate solution to facilities recovering from an incident, or as a temporary measure where short-term additional risks are present.
The wall-mounted system offers the potential for an elegant, unobtrusive installation as part of a new facility design or as a retrofit application within existing layouts. Like the free-standing system, this makes optimal use of the available floor area when space is hard to come by and it provides active visual display at eye level to give advanced warning of the presence of dangerous ferromagnetic objects.
Performance
Unlike handheld technologies, Ferroguard® is not reliant upon user consistency or operation and scans a subject more efficiently from head to toe as the subject steps through the portal. A directional optical sensor ensures proper pole alignment and activation of the secondary audible alarm, which has variable volume control and occurs only when the threshold is crossed under alert conditions.
The flexibility of Ferroguard® allows users to customize their preferred mode of operation based around their perceived risk levels. With variable sensitivity, units can be set to detect both large and small ferrous objects which may be inadvertently brought into the MRI room.
Warranty
ETS-Lindgren's standard limited warranty covers Ferromagnetic Detection Systems for one year. The warranty does not apply to fault or damage caused by accident, misuse, neglect, or interference with equipment caused by the user or by failure to maintain a suitable environment and power supply or by any cause other than the normal use of the equipment.
